The history of Egyptian-Emirati relations dates back to 1971 that witnessed the reunification of the seven emirates in one country, the United Arab Emirates under the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan that is fully supported by Egypt. Egypt is one of the countries that recognized the new union immediately after its declaration and supported it as a cornerstone of security and stability and the addition of a new force to the Arabs. It was officially announced the exchange of diplomatic representation between the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt in 1972.
