Tips and advice for citizens traveling to
Visitors to the Kingdom of the
Netherlands have to abide by the rules and regulations set by the official
authorities when arriving at one of the ports of the Kingdom with regard to
the banned substances and things into Dutch territory that will subject its
owner to financial fines and legal prosecution.
Below is a list of prohibited articles:
1. Weapons and ammunition:
Children's toys resembling real weapons.
Conventional weapons such as pocket knives, swords, machetes.
spraying tools (consisting of tear gas material )
All kinds of live ammunition.
In case of hunting, a prior permission
from the competent authorities must be extracted.
2. Counterfeit goods are prohibited – such as:
Computer games or CDs, films or programs.
The following quantities and products
accompanied by the passenger are allowed:
Perfume 250 ml
Bags or clothing
Three pairs only
Video discs or movies
Movies if they are in one CD or three CDs
-Bringing in paintings or antiques
without prior permission from the relevant authorities is prohibited.
- Possession of skins or fur of
endangered animals such as (Polar Bear, Foxes, some reptiles such as snakes
and crocodiles, elephants’ or rhinos’ tusks) and all articles made from it
such as handbags, shoes and handicrafts is prohibited.
- Visitors coming to the Netherlands
should notify the customs authorities about the possession of the following:
- Any cash amounts exceeding ten thousand
Euros or its equivalent.
- Any shares or bonds which value exceed
the amount mentioned above.
- Travelers’ Cheques which does not have
the holder’s name and exceed ten thousands Euros or its equivalent.
- Medicine containing narcotic substances
requires medical certificate from a doctor.
Failing to abide by the above mentioned
regulations will subject the visitor to confiscation of the goods, a fine and
prosecution by the Ministry of Justice.
